A few weeks back we had the Canadian Disc Jockey Show here in Toronto. Thanks to the Canadian Disc Jockey Association and all who had part in the success of this years show. I had the pleasure in helping gain some truly class talent as guest speakers at this two day event. I can truthfully say for a smaller conference type show we had all-stars sharing amazing information. Honestly I have been to other bigger and larger scheduled show but I must say this had so much packed into a 2 day affair.
I apologize for the wait in bringing this up but was hoping to complete viewing a few videos and books I gained from several of the folks presenting at this show. I want to thank Ben Stowe for coming and teaching us The good stuff THE HOLLYWOOD EFFECT and AUDIO FOR ENTERTAINERS. thanks to Robbie Britton for the action packed INTERACTIVE ON A MISSION presenting unique efforts to bring maximum fun with games for all to enjoy. We also had Brandon Lindsay who brought emotion and passion to the forefront with tools and ideas to MAKE IT HAPPEN. David Beal and his EXPANDING YOUR MARKET WITH ETHNIC MUSIC was also very good info to conquer more challenging events with proper approach etc.
I also attended several other seminars and only wish it had went for four days so I could have been in all the seminars presented. We had Stu Chisolm’s Survive and Thrive in a Down Economy, Adam Whytall offered a very informative info session on the operations of Virtual DJ. My good friend made the trip from Vancouver BC to offer up “The Power Of Publicity.” Chris Jaeger On current marketing strategies, tips and tricks and Ala Dodson and his Top Gun all good stuff. I was not able to catch each offering due to a bit of overlap.
I asked many folks their opinion on the speakers who presented at this gathering and I wont mention specific favorites but in nearly every case the people who attended mostly all of these sessions said they gained majorly and not just from one of the presenters.
I enjoyed every session I was able to attend and walked away with gems even on topics I felt rather knowledgable in, but the most rewarding took place in the hallways like every conference I have attended. This time though it was most rewarding talking with new folks getting into the industry. I found a relink to that passion when I first began this trek almost 40 yrs ago. I have never forgotten that feeling but it was a true pleasure seeing that our craft still has hope with some really bright passioned folks coming into the business I love. I hope folks will respond with any good info they gained at the show and hope to improve on this in the coming yrs. Onward and Upward is my motto. Thanks again to all of my friends who attended and those who came to Toronto to speak. I have some reviews coming up soon from several of the presenters at this show. Book Review and Video reviews coming soon.
